This paper maps the multifaceted aspects of well-being within the tourism system, adopting a systemic approach. Traditional studies on tourism often focus on economic and marketing aspects or negative externalities, neglecting the holistic evaluation of the well-being of the involved agents. The article reviews existing literature on thewell-being of tourists,workers, and communities, highlighting the heterogeneity of well-being outcomes influenced by factors such as income, infrastructure conditions, and cultural characteristics. It also delves into the social impacts of tourism on communities, emphasizing both positive and negative consequences. Furthermore, it examines the well-being of tourism workers, exploring constructs related to job satisfaction, motivation, and quality of life. The paper concludes with discussions on the most relevant theoretical and methodological challenges of the proposed approach, presents the challenges that Latin America faces in planning public policies for the tourism sector oriented towards well-being, and suggests future research directions, advocating for a dynamic systems approach to model and analyze interactions in the tourism system.
