Publicidad y medio ambiente: la industria petrolera como estudio de caso

Resumen

Introduction: Human civilization has been built upon the uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources, creating a process of collision with the natural world, making the idea of sustainable development almost a utopia. Methodology: From this premise, the relevance of this research emerges, which, through three case studies of oil activities and methodologically framed in qualitative action research, critical analysis, and hermeneutics, is based on six pillars of analysis aimed at confronting the most significant elements between oil, advertising, and Greenwashing through these case studies. Discussion: This leads to what we call misleading advertising today, which refers to those contents of advertising discourses that are disseminated but are not always consistent with regulations or the self-regulation codes that guide their communicative activities. Results: In this regard, the research asserts that false information, suggestive messages, abuse of Greenwashing, and deceptive or illicit persuasion are used in advertising, misleading consumers by creating expectations that do not correspond with the company. Conclusions: Thus, we can reflect and understand that there is a significant amount of work that can be done in the field of advertising.
